2016 ARNYCA Cellars Pinot Noir Rosé AMAZES
We recently had the opportunity to drink a couple of bottles of the 2016 ARNYCA Cellars Pinot Noir-based Rosé at our annual meeting this July in New Orleans, LA, and it absolutely stunned us all with its quality. It has a beautiful, vibrant pink color reminiscent of the rosés of Tavel AOC in the Rhône valley. The nose was bright red fruit, like strawberries, cranberries, and perhaps a hint of raspberry, with a nice floral note on it as well of crushed rose petals. It was expressive and begged to be tasted.
In the mouth you were at first very aware of the wonderful acidity, leading to a very solid fruit core of strawberry, raspberry, some melon, and floral notes in the mid-palate. It also had a refreshing minerality that kept it lifted as it worked its way back along your palate. The finish was moderate to long.
Overall, I think this wine was an excellent offering from ARNYCA Cellars, and it proves that they are no one-trick pony with their usual focus on the Cabernet Franc grape.
